lyrics

French Toast
By: William Dire Wolff

Six pounds of sugar in a cotton sack
Strand of barbed wire runnin’ down his back
Heard him talkin’ before he did say
He mumbled something and then faded away
He finally solved a riddle
That once he had figured wrong.

Tammy tucked a turtle underneath her arm
Tommy taught the teacher about spinn’ yarn
Davey picked a daisy
In a a parking lot
He was drivin’ uncle’s humvee
Until he got caught
He was huntin’ down the Aces
But he only got a shallow grave.

2 - Cane wasn’t able, to work the sugar mill
Tammy wasn’t ready, But Davey was trying still
Six pounds of sugar in a cotton sack
Half a week’s pay and an achin’ back
He finally solved a riddle
That once he had figured wrong.

Davey headed home, underneath that flag
Six rounds of ammo, in a shopping bag
Tammy and the turtle, headed for the coast
With a sister named Pierre
And some fancy toast
She finally solved a riddle
That once she had figured wrong.
She finally solved a riddle
That once she had figured wrong.
She finally solved a riddle
That once she had figured wrong.
